Mindful Business Evolution - FKA: At The Table w/ Women in Leadership

Conquering Rejection: Empower Your Mindset for Personal Growth and Business Success on MBE Podcast: Mindset Monday with Heather

June 17, 2024 Heather Ross Season 10 Episode 11

Ever felt paralyzed by the fear of rejection? Tune in to a transformative episode of the Mindful Business Evolution podcast with me, Heather, as we unravel the power of mindset in conquering rejection and fueling personal growth. Drawing inspiration from Jamie Kern Lima's "Worthy," we delve into how changing our perception of rejection can open new doors and elevate our lives. I even share my personal journey of overcoming the anxiety of not securing guests for the podcast, which turned into an overwhelming success—proving the importance of mindset. Reflecting on the Four Agreements, especially the principle of not making assumptions, we'll explore how this wisdom can reshape our relationship with rejection. Plus, a courage-themed card from the 52 Essential Conversations deck reminds us of the incredible strength we possess when we choose how we show up in the world.

But that's not all—exciting opportunities and events are on the horizon! This weekend's FAVE gathering still has a few spots left, and I encourage you to join us for a weekend of inspiration. Also, mark your calendars for the Transcendent Healing Meditation and Mandala Workshop at the end of June, which promises to be a rejuvenating experience available both in-person and via Zoom. The buzz around these events is incredible, and I'd love to hear your thoughts and questions. Lastly, I'm thrilled to introduce the Mindful Business Evolution membership, offering you exclusive access to bi-weekly power hours, expert-led workshops, and strategic partnerships to help you grow your business and mindset. Speaker 1:

Mindful Business Evolution the podcast where networking, mindset and technology converge to empower success. In today's fast-paced world, navigating the complexities of business while nurturing personal growth can often feel like a daunting task. Welcome to Mindful Business Evolution. Happy Mindset Monday.

Speaker 1:

My name is Heather, I'm your host and I'm so glad you're here with me to choose and decide how you are going to show up in the world and how you're going to move through your week. Mindset is so important and choosing to have a topic that I talk about once a week really helps me in my mindset and I hope it helps you too. So we right now are reading the book Worthy by Jamie Lima I'm sorry, one more time, jamie Kern Lima. Her book is called Worthy If you're watching you can see it on your screen now and this book is diving into how we look at ourselves as we show up in the world. And this week's topic is about our relationship with rejection and how the fear of rejection is actually stopping us from moving forward in our lives. So when we change our relationship with rejection and failure, we're going to change the rest of our lives, because if we don't feel like it's the end of the world when we are rejected or something doesn't go as planned, which can be labeled as a failure in some people's eyes. When you change that relationship, you are able to move forward in your life in ways you've never dreamed of, or things happen that you never thought of.

Speaker 1:

I have a great example of a fear that would have stopped us from ever starting this podcast, and that fear was that nobody would want to be a guest on our podcast. We literally that was the thing we were worried about. We should have been worried about how we're going to spend all this time because there were so many ladies that really wanted to be a part of our podcast. So what we did to help ourselves with that fear is we took a sticky note and we had one of those fake trees on the wall and we put everybody's names on the tree. So it really helped us feel like part of a community, even though it was. You know, all of this was virtual when we started. It was very virtual, so changing our relationship with what we thought and what was true. It is never. We've been very warmly welcomed into the space and I'm excited to carry this tradition on.

Speaker 1:

So, in addition to tapping into Worthy, I found these cards and I pulled one and they are on the Four Agreements which we've read extensively on this podcast and got into. So I always like to remind myself about the four agreements. So I went ahead and pulled a card today and the agreement that it's referring to is don't make assumptions, which I think is really great. It goes right along with when we're changing our relationship with rejection. If we aren't feeling or making assumptions about that rejection, you know we're going to have a different outcome than if we're always making assumptions about how the rejection is going to go. So you get to decide how you show up and look at that. I'm going to read the card here for you.

Speaker 1:

The biggest assumption that humans make is that everyone sees life the way we do. We think everyone around us thinks and sees the way we do, so we assume that others think the way we think, feel the way we feel, judge the way we judge, abuse the way we abuse. We are afraid to be ourselves around others because we think others will judge us, victimize us, abuse us and blame us as we do ourselves. Because we've talked about this before. We only accept the abuse that is a little bit less than we abuse ourselves. So if we think someone's going to judge us the way that we judge ourselves, right, that hurts in our heart. Then we're living in that fear and we're living in that rejection state.

Speaker 1:

So my second set of cards I got are 52 Essential Conversations, and today's card is on courage, because I thought this was a great pull, because it's exactly what it takes to face these is courage. So name a movie character or someone you know who showed courage, how and why. And I always think of Legatha from the Vikings series. And she is a warrior and she is always showing courage. Whether she's at home being a mom protecting her kids, or she's on the battlefield or she's dealing with a butthead person. She always shows courage and strength in a way that shows you women can be strong and still be feminine, and I like that because I'm looking for a balance of those energies.

Speaker 1:

All right, describe a time when you stood up for yourself or another person. Why did you do it and how did it feel? All right, so before I did all of this work, I totally was having a hard time in life and this person tried to accuse me and everyone around me of not picking up our dog poop and he kind of got the brunt of all of everything going on in my life, but he wasn't very nice to me about it because I was holding my dog's poop in a bag. So I was like, obviously, I'm not the problem, sir, you can take that somewhere else. But that's not how I handled myself. Now I would have a lot more grace for the situation than I did then and I'm really happy to say that I've grown and changed a lot and instead of being as reactive to life, I get to choose, because I show up every Monday, choosing, deciding how I'm going to show up in the world, and that's the goal here. So I hope you will continue to join us and that you got some value from today.

Speaker 1:

I want you to go ahead and leave in the comments. If you leave a comment first off, if you leave a comment, I'm going to put you in the drawing to receive my copy of Worthy, so it will have you know any notes that I've taken in it and then you can read it and then pass it along to someone else if you would like. And let's see what is our question of the week. Oh, I'm so sorry. Yes, of course I. I go again apologizing. Specifically, how has the fear of rejection and failure impacted your life in any area? Because I feel like sometimes this stops me from cooking right, like I'm afraid of ruining the food. It's so expensive right now, so I actually don't cook the good food for me, and then I'm not getting the nutrients because I didn't try the new recipe. So, like, fear of failure actually stops us from doing lots of different things in our lives. So what's one way that fear of failure has impacted your life? And again, if you leave a comment, you'll be entered to win at the end of this series.

Speaker 1:

I hope you all have a great week.

Speaker 1:
